Dear Friends of the Arts:
This is a pressing situation. The following information was released yesterday from Harrisburg:
Senators Corman, Pileggi and Scarnati introduced Senate Bill 850. It appears that it eliminates all state funding for the arts. There is no mention of Grants to the Arts or the PCA in the bill.
The only funding listed is funding from the NEA.
IF we lose the PCA we lose all arts funding from state dollars…programs would end….organizations would close….this is very serious.
PLEASE contact any legislator you can…….please do not take this lightly….we need to bombard Harrisburg with emails. Here are the directions for contacting legislators in our region
(Note: this is the Northeast region.Contact the League of Women Voters or your state congressperson for legislators in your area.)
How to Contact Legislators where we vote:
The simplest way is to use the automated email to get on the record and be counted. (You can then follow with a personalized letter with personalized story afterward by regular mail).
Go to the Citizens for the Arts website http://capwiz.com/artsusa/pa/state/main/?state=PA
Under the Action Alert box beneath Contact Legislators you will see 3 Take Action buttons (each of the buttons has information; which you can read).
To get to the automated email. Select the middle button. Scroll down and fill out the eform. (When you fill in their contact information at the end, it will automatically put in the correct
legislator for your residence. It’s pretty simple; and a sample letter is already provided.
Your email will be received and read! It will only take a minute of time and each person/organization COUNTS! We need to work together to keep the arts alive in our
Commonwealth!
Thank you for taking the time to work together for what we believe in!
